Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 can sloppy joe sauce
- 2 potato buns, toasted
- 4 oz cheddar cheese, shredded, if desired
Directions: Place a medium skillet on the stove and heat over medium. Add the ground beef and break apart into smaller pieces. Cook the meat until seared and browned, then remove as much of the fat as you can either draining or using a paper towel. Add the sloppy joe sauce and reduce the heat to low. Simmer until heated through and the flavors have had a chance to meld.
Toast your buns, if desired. When I toast the buns, I melt some butter with a bit of salt, pepper, and garlic powder and brush it on the buns before placing under the broiler. Of course, you’re welcome to toast them dry, with plain butter, or not at all.
We like to have our sloppy joes open faced so place the top and bottom side by side on the plate and add a scoop of the meat mixture to each, topping with the shredded cheddar if desired.
