Time: 30 minutes
Feeds: 2 people
Ingredients:
- 1/2 pound ground beef
- 1 cup white rice
- 1 jar or packet of beef gravy
- 2-4 eggs, depending on how many everyone wants for their dish
- Green onion, to garnish
Directions: Start with getting your rice cooked either in a pot on the stove or in a rice cooker. Once the rice is finished, you can start assembling and prepping everything else as it moves very quickly.
Get the gravy in a small pot on the stove to heat up. This is meant to be a very easy dinner that can get thrown together quickly so I recommend using either a packet of beef gravy or Bisto granules that you can just add water to or there are some great jarred gravies as well. We prefer the Better than Bouillon jarred beef gravy for this.
Prepare the burger patties. We like to treat these as smash burgers so take your half pound of beef and split that into four evenly sized portions and roll those into balls. In a pan or on an electric griddle, place the balls on the surface and use a burger press or something flat to get them flattened out. Season with salt and pepper and continue cooking until cooked all the way through. Turn off the heat and leave them until it’s time to assemble.
Last but not least, you’ll need to cook the eggs. There’s nothing better than a runny yolk for this and I would recommend cooking your eggs over easy or over medium in this instance. As the eggs are almost done, you’re ready to assemble your bowl. Place your cooked rice on the bottom, followed by two of the smashed patties. Top with your eggs and the follow that up with the beef gravy. Season with salt and pepper to taste and garnish with green onions.
